Engineer lll( Gas Engineer )

Contract position approx 1 year.

Candidates must live or be nearby Denver, CO

Gas Engineer(s) needed who are familiar with GEO MAOP validation project with experience applying records researched against transmission pipelines to identify remediation projects for future capital budget projections. Gas engineer applies records across applicable pipeline segments as part of maximum allowable operating pressure validation, identifying gaps in traceable, verifiable and complete records that are not in compliance with PHMSA 49 CFR 192 regulations. Preference given to candidates who have previously worked on the records and build portions of MAOP validation project.

Job Requirements

Experience with GE Smallworld or similar GIS system is desired.

Candidate should have a minimum of 3 years working in the gas industry ideally with pipeline experience.

A B.S. degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in gas pipeline operating pressure validation and remediation. Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, and has working knowledge of gas pipeline construction methods and operations.

Requires the use of spreadsheets, GIS mapping interface, database working knowledge and work management systems. The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work usually result from progressive experience.

Essential Responsibilities One or more of the following: 1) Project engineer reviews all data sources for a given pipeline, identifies data gaps relative to regulatory requirements and recommends appropriate remediation. Strong attention to detail required to link source records to specific pipeline segments for all pipeline features and attributes.

Supervision and guidance relate largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters. Consults with supervisor concerning unusual problems and developments. Provides project scope justification, schedule and cost estimate to implement recommended remediation. Other duties as assigned.
