MILE HIGH YOUTH CORPS Energy And Water Conservation Lead Corpsmember 2021 in DENVER, Colorado

Energy and Water Conservation Corpsmembers will serve income qualifyinghouseholds in Metro Denver by installing energy and water saving measures(low-flow fixtures, programmable thermostats, and LED light bulbs) andeducate our community about the importance of energy and water conservation.In addition, this position serves the community by providing support andassistance for emergent needs due to COVID-19 including health,infrastructure, environmental and social issues. Embedded within MHYC'sEnergy and Water Conservation program, Corpsmembers will engage in anintensive program that offers leadership development, technicalskill-building, career readiness training and an opportunity to serve yourcommunity with a diverse crew. MHYC supports Corpsmembers as they exploretheir future goals and career pathways.Bilingual Client Engagement Corpsmember Lead the education of clients on Conservation behaviors including thefinancial and environmental benefits of conservation. Create outreach strategies and materials for Low-Income EnergyAssistance Program (LEAP) enrollment, host engagement and outreachevents, collect data on LEAP enrollment, and inform Metro Denver residentson energy and water conservation services. Collect client stories that demonstrate the qualitative impact of ourservice. Assist in tracking utility usage data for a select group of clients andreport savings created by Mile High Youth Corps (MHYC) services.Client Intake Corpsmember Assists successful project implementation by conducting outreach tocommunity members, scheduling Energy and Water Conservation crews, andassisting with program reporting to program partners.Conservation Evaluation Assist in tracking utility usage data for a select group of clients anddetermine the actual savings provided by Mile High Youth Corps (MHYC) services. Conduct individual Conservation Needs Assessments to identify additionalresources needed by a client; complete referrals to outside conservationorganizations. Assist in organizing community outreach events and connect eligibleMetro Denver residents to energy and water conservation services.You SERVE: The Community: Provide assistance and support in COVID-19 communityresponse and recovery efforts, and in service projects and Global YouthService Days that support local non-profits and our community. Income-qualified clients: Help clients reduce their utility bills byinstalling high-efficiency fixtures in their homes. You also offer informationon energy and water conservation techniques.Timeline:This is a temporary position. The 1200 hour term will run January 13 -September, 3, 2021. 39.5 hour weeks, Mon-Thurs 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Fridays 8a.m. - 4 p.m. Schedule may vary depending on project needs.You EARN: Biweekly stipend: Earn a living stipend of $840 before taxes everytwo weeks. There is a potential for a performance-based raise. AmeriCorps Education Award: Earn a scholarship of $4,336.50 uponsuccessful completion of a 1200-hour term of service. This award can be usedto pay education-related costs including tuition and payback of qualifyingstudent loans. Individuals have 7 years to use the education award.You RECEIVE: Trainings: Hands-on technical training related to all projects andtools, leadership development, civic engagement, interacting withdiverse clients, customer service, Career and College Readiness, andeducational opportunities through our community partners.
