About the Position:

We are currently seeking a Electrical Project Engineer to add to our team in Denver, Colorado or Johnstown, CO. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled and passionate self-starter to work directly electrical design team in designing electrical design components within the building team. The candidate will work in a highly collaborative interdisciplinary office environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs work involving the application of conventional aspects of electrical engineering for the assigned functional area such as HVAC systems, electrical service, service equipment and low voltage.

  • Assists in the electrical design calculations (low/high power distribution systems, lighting, security/fire systems, data/telecommunication systems, etc.).

  • Exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  • Is familiar with LEED and energy efficient design.

  • Conceptualizes the initial electrical design approach for major phases of large facility-type projects, or has overall responsibility for the electrical engineering work on a project of defined scope.

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates electrical engineering work.

  • Oversees the design and ongoing progress of a project, including project coordination with city, state, and county officials and other outside agencies.

  • Resolves a variety of complex problems; e.g., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.

  • Serves as a liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams.

  • Reviews plans and prepares or reviews technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.

  • Participates in the coordination of BIM/VDC.

  • Possesses a general knowledge of building codes, National Electrical Code, industry standards, and design criteria related to electrical systems.

  • Supervises the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project.

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s in Electrical or Architectural Engineering

Experience:

Registration as an EIT preferred. Ability to pass PE exam within 6-12 months highly preferred.

Two to six years of progressive work experience in the electrical engineering fields.

Qualifications:

  • Possesses a working knowledge of the principles and practices electrical engineering and building design.

  • Is proficient in Revit/BIM/VDC and current Autodesk programs (preferred).

  • Works well with AutoCAD technicians and AutoCAD designers for the preparation and modification of plans.

  • Understands and possesses a working knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and approval processes as well as site-specific research with respect to these issues.

  • Experience in electrical design of convenience stores and the electrical components of associated retail fueling systems preferred.

  • Ability to review, analyze and resolve Construction/Field issues.

  • Is familiar with LEED and energy efficient design.

  • Is experienced in concurrently managing multiple large-scale projects.

  • Demonstrates strong skills in managing schedules and budgets.

  • Is highly organized, with the ability to understand interdisciplinary issues.

  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
