Electrical Engineer 5. Black .and. Veatch Corp., Denver, CO.Design and oversee the design of physical and electrical aspects, includingprotection and controls systems for transmission level voltages (69kV to500kV) and Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) and Master ServiceAgreement (MSA) projects, utilizing knowledge of engineering codes andcompany policies. Perform complex research on protection .and. control andphysical design philosophy and develop recommendations for equipment andmaterials selection. Oversee collection, assimilation, and management ofdata for engineering work. Prepare complex engineering calculations includingshort circuit ratings, voltage drop, lightning protection (spheremethodology) for major equipment and substation design following standardmethods and principles. Develop and manage assigned budget, schedule, andquality requirements. Apply electrical engineering techniques andproblem-solving methodology. Assist in developing, maintaining and updatingengineering standards, and provide technical guidance to other professionalsregarding projects and disciplines. Serve as an electrical technicalspecialist and provide consultation and guidance to project teams and clientsin a particular practice area. Responsible for overseeing EPC and MSA projectswith power utilities projects. Act as Owner's Consultant on wind and solarrenewable projects to review and approve the design, specification, andcontract documents on behalf of the clients. Supervise up to 10 directElectrical Engineer reports. No hire/fire authority. 80% of job istechnical, 20% of job is managing, coaching, and mentoring direct reports.Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, ElectronicsEngineering, or closely related field and 8 years of related experience,or in the alternative, a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering,Electronics Engineering, or closely related field and 6 years of relatedexperience. Professional Engineering (P.E.) license required. Technicalexperience must include: HV substation designs (69kV-500kV),protection and control design, physical design, schematics drawings,general electrical arrangement, grounding system analysis, short circuitanalysis, lightning protection, power distribution analysis, arch flashstudy, Motor Control Centers (480V-600V), switchgears (4.2kV -13.8kV), wiring diagrams, vendor drawings, power transformers, HVcircuit breakers, HV disconnects, and surge arrestors. Experience mustalso include working on EPC and MSA projects along with field experience. Musthave experience working with collector system substation and its interconnectwith renewable source. Must have experience with leading a team ofmultidisciplinary teams of engineers and overseeing budget, schedule, andscope. Must have experience in coaching, mentoring and career developmentfor less experienced engineers along with supervisory responsibility. Softwareexperience must include: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,Project, Outlook, and Access), Aspen, Skype, ETAP, and AutoCAD.Travel to client sites within the United States required 10% of the time.Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
