This position has the possibility of being located at a variety of Energy offices in multiple locations across the United States . We have a range of different work from various industries includes oil & gas, renewables, and transmission / distribution. The primary work is related to MV/HV Electric Substations.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Completing detailed drawings from sketches, plans, specifications, written, and verbal instructions in AutoCAD and Microstation.
Revise drawings, incorporate / copy existing drawings into new design formats
Perform basic electrical calculations (conduit sizing, wire sizing, voltage drop, etc)
Setup drawings, backgrounds, and details in accordance with client drafting standards.
Update contract drawings and specifications.
Produce drawing for a review to a standard that requires minimal mark-ups by an Electrical Engineer
Level specific responsibilities:
Serves as a capable professional within specific domains of the field.
Under general direction, prepares and modifies designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings and working drawings.
Independently develops alternate technical solutions and design options in support of project team, e.g. white paper research, code review and wide range of difficult problems.
Develops and/or implements the results of reports, opinions, or recommendations to address design challenges/opportunities.
Leads the development and implementation of the design ideas and solutions.
Responsible for communication and collaboration with full design team and client.
Oversees and coordinates the technical work for projects consistent with experience.
Understands the marketing of professional services.
Develops and leads technical approach and criteria for a design element, and coordinates complex work.
Ensures compliance to Quality Assurance Procedures.
May be required to sign and seal documents (e.g. drawings).
Employee works with clients as well as the internal and external project team to execute the project from concept to execution and completion.
BA/BS plus 4 years of relevant experience OR AA/AS (US) / Diploma/Certificate (Canada) plus 6 years of relevant experience OR HS diploma / GED plus 8 years of relevant experience
Career certificate or Associates degree in CAD, engineering design technology or similar.
10 years design / drafting experience in the power industry
Ability to read, understand and develop electrical drawings under the supervision of an Engineer (one-line, three-line, protective relaying, elementary diagrams, connection diagrams, schematics, etc.)
Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as the NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC, etc.
Ability to meet project schedules and work under pressure
Problem solving skills and work efficiency
Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously
Good oral communication skills.
Able to clearly communicate to other team members
Transmission and Distribution design using PLS-CADD
AutoCAD 3D experience
