The Product Support & Distribution Division currently has an opening for a 2nd or 3rd Shift Distribution Supervisor located in our Denver, CO facility. As a Distribution Supervisor, you supervise hourly personnel in the receipt, processing, packaging, storage, order filling and shipment of parts to Caterpillar dealers, Distribution Centers and Regional Distribution Centers to support the end users of Caterpillar equipment. The successful candidate will also be responsible for writing and updating Standard Work as well as Safe Job Procedures and performing SFMEAs. Additionally, this person will assume the role of the local Safety lead and work closely with Regional EHS.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Ensuring parts inventory is received, processed, picked, packed, and shipped in a safe, efficient, accurate, and timely manner
Responding to dealer calls and making immediate decisions to resolve the issue
Contributing to the development of an effective work force by assigning, directing and motivating employees to conform, defined and documented processes
Providing necessary on the job training
Improving productivity and quality by taking ownership of the process
Leading teams working on problem resolution and process improvement
Maintaining high employee morale by ensuring basic elements of work discipline are delivered
Conducting daily Safety meetings and observing employees for unsafe behavior, and correcting behavior through counseling
Preparing and maintaining necessary paperwork for hourly payroll and attendance records
Limited travel required (Less than 5% of working time)

Ensuring Safe Job Procedures are updated and reviewed accordingly
Performing Safety FMEAs on both current and new processes
Partners with other members of Management team in implementation of changes needed to develop a sustained culture of safety first
Coordinates implementation of Continuous Improvements ideas relating to safety
Chairs ZIP steering committee for facility and takes a lead role in defining and executing the facility safety vision
Represents facility on safety committees and special project within Caterpillar
High school diploma or equivalent
3 years of warehouse operations experience
1 years of supervisor and/or team lead experience
Previous experience with operating, purchasing, parts ordering and/or inventory management systems
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Certified green belt in more than one 6 Sigma project
Strong CPS (Caterpillar Production System) knowledge
Previous experience participating in or leading safety teams/projects
Familiarity with authoring standard work
Ability to create Safe Job Procedures and manage the entire process
Understanding of Safety FMEAs
Strong leadership, initiative and people skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Willingness to go off-shift and/or relocate as supervisor, assistant manager, etc. as needed to continue development
This opening is for a second or third shift position.
