Director of Energy Efficiency and Sustainability
The Director of Energy Efficiency & Sustainability is responsible for leadership of energy efficiency and sustainability services for AEI’s clients. The Director oversees delivery of reporting, compliance, audit, and capital planning services to assists our clients to meet their operational efficiency, ESG reporting and climate risk adaptation goals. AEI’s Energy Efficiency & Sustainability group improves the financial, operational and environmental performance of single assets as well as large, complex portfolios with proven utility cost reductions as demonstrated through benchmarking and reporting. The Director guides AEI’s services to help our clients save money, meet their ESG reporting obligations, and reduce the carbon footprint of their commercial real estate portfolio or lending activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and launch a business strategy to leverage AEI’s existing building assessment and capital planning knowledge combined with emerging energy efficiency and sustainability requirements to create value-add for AEI’s existing client base.
Develop, market and implement scopes of work to meet client needs.
Develop and launch a business strategy to address our clients’ needs with respect to climate risk and climate adaptation. Develop, implement, and market specific scopes of work to meet client needs.
Develop and deliver comprehensive tracking of local and regional regulatory obligations concerning energy benchmarking, energy use, energy audits, and energy efficiency.
Develop service offerings and business strategies to meet clients needs in these areas.
Develops the expertise within AEI’s Building Assessment team to deliver cross-divisional services as outlined above.
Ensure our Building Assessment teams are equipped to provide assessment services related to high-efficiency HVAC equipment, LED lighting, sustainable roof solutions, water savings measures, energy management systems, site-specific renewable energy power solutions, and electric vehicle charging stations.
Contributes to the creation of a training programs for clients, BAEN PMs/PM IIs, SPMs, and NCMs to ensure we’re not only providing like-kind replacement cost estimates, but also capable of advising clients on upgrading equipment for energy efficiency requirements and ESG goals
Collaborates with AEI’s Executive, Business Development, and Marketing teams to establish and meet growth goals within the sector
Contributes to the creation of a large dependable and qualified team of Associate Consultants in desired geographic locations
Oversees annual budget, including revenue and profit targets, for the Energy Efficiency and Sustainability business line
Serves as the face of Energy Efficiency & Sustainability Services both internally and externally
Prepares two to three articles suitable for publication per year
Partners with the sales team ensure that Energy Efficiency & Sustainability Services Revenue Targets are achieved
Monitors expenses to ensure that Energy Efficiency & Sustainability Services Profitability Targets are achieved
Builds direct client relationships in support of sales efforts through servicing the account and in-person meetings
Serves as primary Energy Efficiency & Sustainability Services Lead for specific accounts
Maintains a technical review load and delegating reviews as needed
Builds an intimate, in-depth understanding of the client's goals and facilitating the delivery of consulting to meet those needs
BPI-MFBA or CEM a plus
Experience and/or certification with LEED, USGBC, BREEAM, USRC a plus
Engineering or Advanced Environmental Degree required
Post Graduate Degree desired
Additional training or experience in building performance, sustainability, ESG reporting

The work environment is indoors, in a typical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
