What you will get to do:
The Smart Mobility Office (SMO) within Panasonic acts as an incubation engine to capture new opportunities and become a gamechanger in the rapidly transforming transportation industry. The Cirrus team, within SMO, is creating disruptive technologies to advance vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology that transforms each vehicle into a true IoT device and leverages this data to revolutionize traffic management and safety on our roadways.
As a Data Engineering Intern, you will work to drive innovation and insights within the organization by fulfilling the following responsibilities:
Build and maintain scalable data pipelines for both batch and stream processing in a cloud-computing environment
Build and support complex ELT infrastructure to deliver clean and reliable data to the organization
Support the development of new products and services via ingestion, processing, and formatting data for reporting and analytics
Interact face-to-face with business stakeholders, develop cooperative relationships, and acquire domain knowledge of the business
CIRRUS by Panasonic is building a next-generation data aggregation and visualization platform for the transportation industry, and your work will directly affect the health and safety of drivers on roadways!
About you: You are a flexible team player who is learning to manage large datasets and support analytics. You have knowledge or experience collecting, cleaning, organizing, and moving data sets to enable machine learning, AI, market insights, and product insights. You love thinking about data engineering problems that include data streaming, ETL, data warehousing, data lakes, and/or data virtualization. You’re able to support technical projects with guidance and support from senior team members to unlock the value of data. You are eager to learn and care deeply about using data to solve business problems.
Work on data pipelines, data cleansing and analysis, report generation
Create tests for all work done
Work on building and revamping existing code along with documentation
Code reviews, architecture walk throughs and cross functional team knowledge transfer
What You’ll Bring:
Education & Experience:
Knowledge and/or experience in data modeling, ELT development, data warehousing, data pipeline, and data lakes
Knowledge and/or experience with cloud tools such as AWS and Snowflake
Functional knowledge of both SQL and Python
Bonus:
Knowledge and/or experience with data visualization and analysis tools, e.g. Tableau, Spotfire, etc.
Knowledge and/or experience with containerized applications and platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS
Knowledge and/or experience with documenting processes, building architecture diagrams & process flows, and maintaining data dictionaries

NOTE: Internship pay rates are $15/hr to $25/hr, based on the class level (Freshman – Senior) of the candidate and whether the candidate is in an undergrad or graduate school program.
