General Electric Controls Engineer in Denver, Colorado
The Controls Engineer is a member of the Global Controls team focused on controls development and validation activities. In this role, you will work with members of the local Controls team, as well as be integrated with the global controls team, to develop and validate controls products.
As the Controls Engineer, you will:
Participate in programs and develop activities related to controls products using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures and product / program requirements
Develop high performing and highly reliable engine control software solutions for our growing product portfolio
Contribute in a strong team to turn clear product requirements into reliable software solutions
Support HiL (Hardware in the Loop) activities, including continuous improvement and expansion of the HiL simulator, collaboration and alignment within the global HiL community, development and maintenance of processes / tools, creation and execution of test plans
Support unit testing and MiL (Model in the Loop) verification and validation of new engine controllers
Provide testing, analysis, technical support and direction on resolving manufacturing, procurement, quality, service and reliability problems
Develop and maintain design specifications, test plans and other documentation for controls products (hardware and software)
Communicate / cooperate seamlessly and boundary-lessly in a global development team with global colleagues
Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, control engineering, mechanical engineering or mechatronics from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical role / field
- Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time
Master's Degree in electrical / mechanical engineering or computer sciences with a focus on control systems from an accredited college or university
Strong background in Internal Combustion Engines with respect to engine performance, combustion, emissions and/or control
Process-oriented with a strong background in specification development and validation / verification techniques
Experience with Simulink modeling and embedded code development for rapid prototyping and production release
Familiarity with RS-232, RS-485, CANbus, Modbus and other industrial communication protocols
Knowledge of requirements management techniques and tools
Experience in embedded software development
Confident self-starter willing to take responsibility for making decisions for a successful total system solution
Strong organizational / project management skills required to manage multiple projects and/or activities
Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing, oral, listening and presentation skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, globally distributed, team-oriented environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Deadline oriented with strong attention to detail
