Your Opportunity

Position is for an Associate Civil, Water Resources Engineer with a minimum of 15 years engineering related experience. The role will lead water resources planning and management projects involving water supply, water reuse, and water infrastructure; environmental assessments; and other water planning projects for public and private clients.. As the successful candidate, you will use your technical and leadership abilities to assist in a wide variety of projects in a dynamic planning and design team setting. You will be required to demonstrate excellent communication skills and problem solving abilities along with a commitment to thrive in a proactive organization where client service is paramount. You will report directly to Business Center leader or technical discipline leader and be responsible for the mentoring and leadership of Project Team members.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support engineering and senior project staff in producing high quality work products for our municipal water and wastewater clients

  • Support project management activities associated with the planning and execution of municipal engineering projects.

  • Participating in local efforts to identify, pursue, and win new projects and work.

  • Participate in a wide variety of water related projects, from planning and conceptual design through detailed design and implementation.

  • Plan, commission, manage, and undertake field investigations in support of hydraulic models and conceptual/functional

  • designs.

  • Effectively organize, document, communicate, and present information summarizing technical analyses performed and findings or recommendations developed (both verbally and in writing).

  • Interact with local and remote clients, Stantec staff, permitting agencies, and other consulting firms in the execution of engineering projects.

  • Identify, develop and evaluate hydraulic solutions ensuring feasibility of construction.

  • Manage project work and project teams ensuring delivery and adherence to quality assurance standards, schedule and budget.

  • Work collaboratively with other project team members across the Stantec community.

  • Marketing & Business Development: Market the firm’s engineering and multi-discipline capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients. Prepare statements of qualification and proposal responses for potential projects.

  • Develop scope of work, and negotiate fees and contract terms for project work.

  • Assist with the implementation of Stantec’s Health and Safety program.

  • Project Management: Manage project staff, scope, budget, schedule, and client expectations in accordance with sound management practices, and Stantec’s Project Management Framework. Interface with and support multi-discipline engineering/environmental teams.

  • Work collaboratively and enthusiastically as a key member of small or large teams to successfully deliver quality projects on schedule and within budget.

  • Provide quality control and independent review of deliverables.

  • Coach, mentor and assist junior staff in their career development.

  • Attend meetings to communicate results, resolve issues, and strategize solutions.

  • Participate in value engineering and basic cost estimating.

  • Implement sustainable design principles.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Sound understanding of water and or environmental related principles and engineering concepts, including water resources planning and management principles and concepts

  • Advanced ability to effectively communicate ideas and opinions.

  • Expertise in model-build, calibration and verification; needs and alternative assessments, evaluation and defensible solution development.

  • Wide ranging experience with industry standard water resource planning model and GIS software or a willingness to independently learn.

  • Knowledge of hydraulic/hydrologic modeling software.

  • Highly skilled with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • The ability to deliver multiple projects and work both independently and as part of a team under minimal supervision.

  • Proven supervisory experience.

  • Experience of task leadership or a clear desire to take on task leadership responsibilities.

  • Past success working as part of high-performing team.

  • Commitment to client satisfaction and the delivery of high quality work products.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil, Environmental or Water Resources Engineering.

  • Master's Degree preferred

  • Licensed Professional Engineer.

  • Minimum of 12-15 years of experience in the planning and design of municipal water, wastewater, storm water management, or water resources.

  • Valid drivers license.

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Candidate must be willing and have the ability to travel, and on occasion, spend time working away from home office for extended periods of time.
