City EngineerDuties:Will be preparing engineering plans and specifications for water, stormdrainage, and street systems and assisting with budget preparation of same.Will be assisting in project management for the construction of public worksprojects.Will be reviewing private and City project development plans for compliancewith codes, regulations, and standards.Will be overseeing utility and street cut permits to insure City regulationsare met and coordinating with other Public Works divisions to patch streetcuts caused by non-City construction.Will be working with citizens and individuals on a variety of issues and/orcomplaints to come to a solution and maintaining regular contact withconsultants, other government agencies, and general public regarding Cityactivities and services.Will be assisting in the evaluation of traffic issues of the City, includingimpacts of development proposals, area growth, and specific issues.Will be coordinating the concrete and sidewalk programs of the City.Will be providing support in technical matters and backup services to thebuilding and zoning divisions.Skills: Must have a degree in Civil Engineering from a four-year college oruniversity or a closely related field.Must be registered in the state of Colorado within six monthsMust be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, withemployees, consultants, City officials, and other entities.Must be able to conduct necessary research and compile comprehensive reports.Must have thorough knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices,and methods, as applicable to municipal setting.Must have knowledge of applicable City policies, laws, and regulations.Must be able to use computer-aided design (CAD) software, wordprocessing, spreadsheets, and data bases; as well as standard draftingtools and construction surveying equipment.Other requirements:Must possess a valid driver license and be registered in the State of Coloradowithin 6 months.Ability to pass a drug test and background check.Wage: The salary range for this position is $29.13 to $43.85 per hourdepending on qualifications (registered engineer and experience).Days and hours: Will be working 40 hours per week.
