The Manager, Strategic Proposals is responsible for successfully crafting large multi-facility, multi-discipline Request for Proposals (RFP). Leverages knowledge and experience to respond competitively to RFPs in terms of proposed configuration, pricing and value proposition. This role interacts with designated subject matter experts throughout the organization to gain appropriate information and partners closely with sales to deliver winning RFPs. The Manager, Strategic Proposals, will create standard work to drive consistency, standardization and accuracy in RFP responses. As such, the Manager will build and maintain a Request for Proposal (RFP) response database. Responsibilities:

  • Supporting highly accurate and robust RFPs through a solid understanding of company products, pricing guidelines and tools
  • Management and ongoing development of a RFP database with sophistication and applicability to multiple types of RFPs
  • Act as a resource for RFI’s and develops responses to complex and high-value inquiries.
  • Understand the nature of RFPs and act as a SME on both RFP data management and content development appropriate to answer questions.
  • Collaborates with members of the sales, marketing, finance, legal, or product teams to ensure content is complete, accurate, and timely.
  • Establish the single source of truth database for completing RFPs. Coordinate data capture from various sources throughout the company
  • Recognize the real needs of the customer and have creative input into providing a right-sized proposal
  • Scope of segment responsibility includes: university systems owned by state, IDNs (complex multisite deals), health systems, GPOs
  • Scope of product responsibilities includes: All Beckman Coulter product lines except micro and Radiometer products, (Does not include cross-OpCo opportunities)
  • Other duties as assigned including
  • Test utilization analysis
  • Customer support projects (i.e. helping with lab design. AutoCAD design of lab to help discussions)
  • Ad hoc analysis
  • Triage and assist with contract elements of RFP such as BAA, evaluation of customer T&C documents/contracts, and Beckman Coulter documents (Coordinate with contracts)

* Bachelor’s degree with 9 or more years of experience required. * Industry experience and expertise in diagnostics, diagnostic instrumentation, laboratory and/or, reagents businesses * Background in Proposals and RFP development through sales experience in laboratory instrument sales or equivalent experience. * Strong business and financial acumen. Detail oriented. * Possess strong time management and organizational skills. Must possess a strong process orientation and project management skills. * Possesses strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a teamwork mindset that includes coaching, teaching, and consulting * Demonstrated ability to build relationships with sales, finance, operations, marketing, other internal functions and customers * Strong preference for familiarity with RFP requirements that include small business, labor laws, minority business compliance, etc. * Proficiency in Microsoft products. Intermediate to Advanced level in Excel. * Demonstrated ability to read and understand terms and conditions of a contract * Must have strong written and verbal communication skills * Maintains all organizational and professional ethical standards * Experience with the Oracle or other ERP system is favorable * Negotiations skills are desired
