AEgis Technologies is seeking a qualified Technical Writer to work on a government sponsored engineering program. The candidate will support the program training division by serving as the embedded Technical Writer. Candidate will Work in conjunction with and alongside technicians, logisticians, engineers and the customer to capture and document written, and line drawings for developing technically detailed, instructions. Tasked with the creation of Technical Instructions (TIs), Technical Manuals (TMs), and Inspection/Maintenance procedures and Processes. Act as Document Owner for documentation change control & route documents through the document change control process, Support other Document Owners by creating change lists, including all necessary supporting justifications for changes & compiling accurate & complete documentation packages, Contribute to work instructions, area guidelines, knowledge base topics, style guides/templates, & department SOPs, W/ direction, work closely w/ other technical writers & stakeholders to develop & produce documents, Assist in the development & revision of documents, following established style & format guidelines, Proofread & review documents, Rely solely on other Technical Writers or supervisor to manage projects & timelines
Perform the following technical writing activities related to the design, development, production and fielding of complex systems and equipment:
Design & implement work instructions, area guidelines, knowledge base topics, & departmental SOPs as required.
Attend regular project/core team meetings as required as an Operations extended core team representative
Create new documentation & improve existing documentation
Initiate, edit, review & approve document changes.
Work w/ key personnel on knowledge & understanding of how to perform & troubleshoot manufacturing processes, instrumentation, assays, software, etc. in order to develop & improve content.
Identify & implement document changes to maintain consistency across product lines/processes.
Lead collaborative review sessions.
Manage multiple user documentation projects at a time.
Assist core team members & project team leads in the developing documentation timelines & deliverables.
Contribute to work instructions, area guidelines, knowledge base topics, style guides/templates, & department SOPs.
Revise existing documentation by working w/ stakeholders, partners, or distributors to facilitate revision, review, & approval of documentation.
Coordinate the collaborative review process & establish review & edit cycles.
Coordinate the transition of documentation through development, pilot & production phases as appropriate.
Through Technical Training, maintain knowledge of manufacturing processes, assays, instrumentation, & software as it applies to documentation.
Coordinate final production of documents w/ print vendors as required.
Reagent Process Transfer
Maintain & monitor the development document system as required.
Provide support for the development document system.
Develop Government approved Training Support Packages IAW TRADOC Pam 350-70 to include programs of instruction, lesson plans, student and instructor guides, IETMs, software manuals, and training course administrative documents.
Conduct new equipment training IAW Army Regulation 350-1.
New Employee Success Factors:
30 days Successfully accomplish all on-boarding tasks, security paperwork submitted, and all mandatory training completed. Candidate will review and demonstrate understanding of team processes and procedures.
60 days Interact with team and other teammates successfully supporting requirements completion activities, complete security documentation review.
90 days Under minimum supervision develop expertise in the suite of tools and regulations used to support the customer.
US Citizen with active Top Secret Clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility and background investigation within the last 5 years. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain all required security clearances and program specific accesses as a condition of continued employment.
6-10 years relevant experience.
5+ years of related training experience with DoD programs.
Understanding of (experience with) Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) PAM 350-70 Army Learning Policy and System
Must be willing and able to travel as required.
Broad understanding of Defense Contract artifacts such as the SOW, contract attachments, CDRLs, DIDs, categories of technical data, and of non-technical program data, etc.
Working knowledge of relevant engineering standards, manufacturing, subcontract and supply chain processes in a defense environment.
Excellent computer skills with MS Office suite to prepare reports and documents.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Attention to detail, coupled with good time management and organization skills.
Sound interpersonal skills for interfacing and coordinating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers.
Ability to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations
Overall broad knowledge, skills and experience in multi-function ILS and training disciplines:
Army operations and maintenance process and resources familiarity.
Experience with IMI and Multi-Media training and operational products.
Oversight functions assigned to manage additional contractor personnel staff; manage the hands‐on, day‐to‐day accountability of contractor personnel and their work assignments.
Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Program start-up experience
Willingness and ability to travel as required to meet organizational goals and objectives.
Experience in use of Adobe Acrobat, and/or interactive electronic technical manuals (IETMs).
Knowledge of MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel programs
