Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Sustainment and Modernization of Radar Sensors (SMORS) program is looking for you to join our team as a High-altitude Electro-Magnetic Pulse (HEMP)PrincipalHardware Engineer based out of Colorado Springs, CO

What You'll get to Do:

  • Conduct research, design, development, and testing of High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse protection hardware such as shielded cabinets, bladder and finger stock doors, waveguides, power and signal filters and electrical components.

  • Design new or modifies existing products, develops technical specifications for production, analyzes hardware configuration and processing solutions, and tests hardware conformance to specifications.

  • Prepare technical procedures and specification data.

  • Review technical documentation for accuracy and completeness.

  • Review current and develop new Technical Orders and Manuals.


Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters, 0 Years with PhD; or 9 years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree

  • Current Interim SECRET Security Clearance or higher.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks

  • Knowledge of HEMP and/or TEMPEST protection measures, Radio Frequency (RF) propagation and coupling

  • Experience utilizing MS Office Suite tools (i.e. Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project and Word)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 Years with Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering; 3 Years with Masters in Mechanical Engineering, 0 Years with PhD in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Experience working with ground based radar systems, preferably Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS) PAVE Phased Array Warning System (PAVE PAWS) and/or Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System (PARCS)

  • Thorough understanding of HEMP, RF propagation, RF coupling, electrical power systems, grounding and HEMP protection and counter measures.

  • Expertise in AutoCAD and SolidWorks with experience developing electrical power diagrams and 3D drawings.

  • Experience with electro-mechanical design.
