Oracle Senior Principal Product Manager- Payments in Colorado Springs, Colorado
Lead a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.
As a member of the product development division, you will specify, design and implement major changes to existing software architecture. Define project needs. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to ensure consistency, testability and portability across products in general.
Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.

You would report to VP, Product Strategy, Banking LOB, and FSGBU. As the lead for the Payments strategy for Oracle, the person will own the product roadmap for payments. A good insight into competitive landscape and market outlook in payments is expected. The role encompasses defining the functional, technical and market strategy for payments. As the market facing lead for the product organization, the person will work closely with sales, pre-sales and product marketing teams and engage with customers, prospects and industry analyst. As the job is in the field of rapidly changing and disruptive technology, the person is expected to have a good handle on the latest technologies lile block chain and AI.
Primary responsibilities include:
Assess market needs & conceptualize/refine net-new product family solution and refinements to existing solutions sets.
Develop and deliver the business case to the management team.
Evaluate and analyze the competitive landscape and industry trends: Established players and new market entrants. Maintain a close understanding and appreciation of competitive solutions Deliver competitive analysis - by market and product/solution area
Outline Oracle's strategy to achieve dominance in the market for payments. This includes proposed resource investments, partnerships, acquisitions, and product enhancements.
Outline proposed acquisition(s) to support the FSGBU's growth strategy
Detailed analysis of market size, market share, market opportunity, historical revenue, and competitive assessment by industry segment and product family.
Lead the Payments Customer Advisory Board to discuss industry strategies, issues and technology plans and needs with representative customers.
Prioritize requirements for the product including region and country specific ones. High level document that provides a quick scoping, target market/customers, and high level functional outline used for Release Planning.
Engage with the customer to identify their needs, provide validation points thru demos, functional and technical deep dives, customer references and POC's (if necessary) and develop the final solution proposal by working along with pre-sales and consulting.
Develop content for meetings with industry analysts; discuss and review solution sets, market positioning etc. Develop responses to Analyst RFPs and inbound inquiries.
Demonstrate solid analytical skills to analyze business requirements in Payments
Demonstrate deep technical expertise on latest technologies used in Payments.
Participate in marketing events such as round-tables, breakfasts and conferences for specific industries or solution areas
Identify strategic partnerships for whitespaces.
Assist sales in all stages of the sales process, including responding to RFP`s and solution design.
Assist pre-sales in RFI responses
Participate in trade shows, seminars and other industry events.
Assist product marketing team in outbound marketing material preparation and review.
Decide the pricing for the product offering and pricing revisions as required.
Contribute to training sessions for pre-sales, sales, consulting and partners.
At least 15 years of work experience. At least 7 years of experience in Payments like Cross Border (like SWIFT), Low Value (like ACH) , High Value (like Fedwire), Cards, Cash & Liquidity Management, Payment Analytics, Mobile Payments etc.
Should have held a position in product strategy/management for at least 5 years
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. The candidate should be able to author white papers and thought leadership blogs.
Having blogs and white papers authored would have an added advantage.
Excellent presentation and public speaking skills as the role would require presentations in industry events as well a to C-level executives, customers, analysts, Oracle management etc
The candidate should be highly motivated and should be able to drive the strategy for the product.
The role requires some flexibility as there would be frequent interactions with people across the globe. Also, there would be travel for around 10 - 20% of the time.
MBA degree would be an added advantage though not necessary.
