HealthCore, Inc., a health services research firm, is seeking a Scientific Director of Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) with experience in the healthcare consulting or biopharmaceutical industry to join our dynamic company. HealthCore provides the health care system, biopharmaceutical industry, academia, and the Federal Government with "real-world" data to improve the quality, safety, and affordability of healthcare. We are currently seeking an experienced Scientific Director to join our Health Economics & Outcomes Research Life Sciences team. The Scientific Director will lead aspects of the HEOR business unit by providing scientific leadership and expertise during execution of research studies and serving as an externally facing subject matter expert in real world evidence for clients in the biopharmaceutical industry.

The Scientific Director is responsible for leading HEOR studies, including development and oversight research design and methodology, cultivating and managing scientific client relationships, strategic planning/new business development, and mentoring team members.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Scientific leadership

  • Provides scientific leadership for a portfolio of HEOR projects.

  • Serves as principal investigator for research studies and as a subject matter expert in Targeted therapeutic areas and clinical practice within the U.S. health system

  • Study design, research data methodology, and statistical analysis

  • Synthesis, interpretation, and dissemination of key study findings to multiple stakeholders (manufacturer, provider, patient, payer, etc.)

  • Support research teams in the development of timely, accurate, and high quality project deliverables.

  • Mentors research associates

  • Provides dedicated support to the growth and development of research associates’ scientific skills and expertise within HealthCore’s research environment

  • Motivates research associates to accomplish corporate goals and support the growth and success of HealthCore’s HEOR business unit.

  • Business development

  • Represents HealthCore as subject matter experts in research and data capabilities and supports the development new research opportunities and client relationships.

  • Lead the content development of study proposals in response to a Request for Proposal, including research design and methods with input into scope, budget, and timeline.

  • Support business development in key account strategies to achieve overall sales targets for the HEOR business unit.

  • The Scientific Director will also assist in achieving overall HEOR business plan by effectively utilizing HEOR team members and driving research studies forward.

  • Requires a Ph.D in health service research, biostatistics, epidemiology, health policy, economics or related field, or a clinical degree such as an MD or PharmD with residency or fellowship research training,

  • 10+ years of increasing responsibility as a subject matter expert to research teams in health outcomes projects conducting research using health plan administrative databases (pharmacy and medical claims), with excellence demonstrated by extensive publication of articles and presentation or research at national and international conferences, and serving as a technical subject expert on health services research panels, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • Managed care, PBM, pharmaceutical, or related experience preferred.

  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment.

  • Strong research background that includes study design and analytical skills and demonstrated success in making timely and effective decisions that support the business.

Proven leadership, proposal development and relationship building skills.

Relevant experience in conducting research using health plan administrative databases (pharmacy and medical claims) preferred.

Consulting, clinical, payer, biopharmaceutical, or related experience preferred.
