This position is responsible for leading a team of Production Associates in a GMP nutraceuticals manufacturing environment and managing the day-to-day manufacturing activities. This position reports to the Production Manager and will interact with Quality management/personnel, logistics personnel, purchasing, sales, and other company leadership.
Primary responsibilities include: direct oversight of all production activities and staff. The Production Supervisor?s role will primarily be a people-leader, followed by possessing knowledge in applicable CFRs, GMPs, SOPs and processes. The Production Supervisor will possess the ability to learn, train, and perform basic troubleshooting of production equipment. He/She will have the ability to author SOPs and other quality documentation related to production. He/She will seek to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities. He/She will be a competent leader able to manage multiple competing demands and projects that enhance performance in a manner which incorporates the company?s vision and culture. This role will also assist in execution of equipment validation/qualification and other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional critical-thinking skills.
As a Production Supervisor, the candidate will be responsible for production scheduling, maintaining MRP transactions, training, performance management, personnel development, timecard approvals, managing production supply and raw material inventories, delegating tasks to Production Associates, and supporting activities on the production floor. Other tasks may be assigned.
Lead and motivate a team of Production Associates to achieve their maximum potential.
Ensure a safe working environment for all company personnel.
Measure and investigate throughput/efficiencies and inefficiencies.
Implement corrective actions to throughput disturbances and non-conformances.
Manage performance reviews.
Manage/maintain MRP system.
Write/approve quality documents (batch records, forms, SOPs, etc.)
Implement Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Read, understand, and follow all appropriate SOPs.
Perform basic troubleshooting as necessary.
Manage inventory of consumables and inform Purchasing when to reorder.
Provide general support to visitors, communicate with vendors, customers and colleagues.
Plan and delegate tasks and resources.
Execute validations, studies, protocols, qualification documentation, etc.
May act as a delegate and/or signature authority to the Production Manager.
May participate in other projects as assigned.
7+ Years of proven experience in the Dietary Supplement or related manufacturing industry
3+ Years of Leadership Experience
Preferred: B.Sc. in related field of expertise
Experience in MS Office with experience in Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Access
Experience with ERP systems.
Able to perform basic math functions to include ratios and decimals.
Ability to analyze and revise operating practices to improve efficiency.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to stand up to 8 hours per day.
Ability to bend at the waist, crouch, reach, and twist
Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with exceptional communication and organization skills, and dedication to completing projects in a timely manner.
Proficient problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Preferred: LEAN Training/Certification
Preferred: Powder Blending and Encapsulation experience
50% sedentary/office work, 50% physical/production environment. Work is performed in office, warehouse, and an indoor clean production environment. Physical activity performing daily activities of a manufacturing/technical nature. Ability to wear personal protective equipment/clothing for production work.
