Selected candidates will have the opportunity to grow, lead,and learn with talented engineers, physicists, and technicians onlong-term programs and new programs supporting the DoD, DoE, and theircontractors. The HPEM Division is looking for an exceptionally talented,motivated, and creative Mechanical Engineer II to support rapid Research andDevelopment (RandD) or Manufacturing activities in Colorado Springs, CO.Responsibilities:Must have knowledge of manufacturing materials and their inherent propertiesIn-depth understanding of manufacturing, process improvements, anddocumentation.Ability to work in a rapid-prototyping environment with agility and opennessto changes. Should be able to fabricate and concept prototypes quickly.Working closely with the RandD team to prepare models and detailed drawingswhich include multiple views and application of mathematics and physics todevelop working prototypes to advance technology development.Researching, designing, and evaluating mechanical products, systems,and processes using engineering principles. Must consider relative costs andbenefits of potential efforts to evaluate the most appropriate action andstructural design.Researching and analyzing data such as customer design proposals,specifications, and manuals to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and/ormaintenance requirements of the product line.Working as part of a cross-functional team to resolve system issues andprovide technical information. Recommend design modifications to eliminatesystem malfunctions. Conduct research that tests or analyzes the design,operation, or performance of equipment. Write performance requirements forthe system.Identifying measures or indicators of system performance and the actionsneeded to improve or correct performance, relative to goals of the system.Ability to carry out various responsibilities such as purchasing,manufacturing, and others, to ensure the final delivered product meetsend-user expectations.Minimum Requirements:4 to 6 years' demonstrated experience researching new designs orapplications of mechanical or electromechanical equipment.Proven time management skills; able to thrive in a deadline-drivenenvironment juggling multiple priorities and projectsUpbeat, positive, high energy with a "can do" attitude; reacts wellunder pressureAbility to work as part of a team, both in-house and on-site requiredExtremely reliable and dependable: Timely and complete deliverables are thenorm.
