Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking Hardware Engineers with experience in formal engineering life-cycle processes to join our tea m of qualified, diverse individuals at our Colorado Springs, Colorado location to meet challenging issues confronting national security.

Qualified individuals must be flexible, self-motivated, hardworking and capable of working on a program, as it moves through the system lifecycle phases of development, testing and deployment of the Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) Survivable Endurable Evolution (S2E2) program. The ideal candidates should be able to work through increasingly complex problems, utilizing ingenuity, innovation, thoroughness, and practicality; and perform their work with minimal direction and oversight.

This position deals with non-commercial and commercial hardware and provides scalable solutions to critical missions and data types as required by contract requirements. Work will also include definition of system requirements, engineering trades and analyses, verification and validation activities, and major subcontractor technical interchange. The preferred candidate will have experience with mobile antenna systems that support satellite communication, mobile shelter systems, and varied computing systems, should be able to work and function in a dynamic environment where requirements can change according to the customer needs.

In addition, the candidate must be a team player, able to work comfortably and effectively with company team members as well as program stakeholders and DoD contractor senior personnel. The candidate will be required to support technical interchange meetings, remote site technical support to include field testing and issue resolution. This position requires 25% travel.

Hardware Engineer’s primary responsibilities are to conduct:

  • Support mobile antenna fielding and system integration activities

  • Perform periodic maintenance activities on assigned equipment to include performance characterization and anomaly resolution

  • Support system qualification test activities to include environmental ,electromagnetic and transportation requirement qualification

  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability with test equipment to include spectrum analyzers, Network analyzers, RF power meters, signal generators, multimeters and oscilloscopes

  • Utilizing a variety of tools to support engineering activities, routine maintenance corrective actions, hardware-related emergency/urgent maintenance and respond to anomalies

  • Requirements development, including decomposition, allocation, and provide recommended verification/validation methods

  • Support technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses

  • Procure system equipment, warranties, spares, and software licenses for both mission and non-mission development and test environments

  • Validate serviceability of hardware and software at contractor and government facilities.

  • Develop procedures, maintain failure data, drawings, and equipment historical records to military standards

  • Ability to diagnose/troubleshoot/repair hardware components

  • Supporting the integration, installation, test and documentation of new and/or modified capabilities into the system

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on the qualifications listed below.

This requisition may be filled as a level 2 or 3.

Basic Qualifications for a level 2:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM field (Science/Technology/Engineering/Math) with 2 years of directly applicable experience in ground service, field service, radar, hardware or RF engineering

• U.S. Citizenship required

• Active Secret clearance

Basic Qualifications for a level 3:

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with at least 5 years related experience in ground service, field service, radar, hardware or RF engineering; 3 years with a Masters

• U.S. Citizenship required

• Active Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with SATCOM and multi-band antenna systems

• Experience with Electromagnetic theory

• Experience with requirements tracking systems

• Model Based Engineering experience

• Excellent communications skills

• Experience in the use of Microsoft Office tools

• Experience with determining required hardware based on performance and other requirements
