Freight Operations Supervisor (Transportation)

Responsible for supervising, coordinating and support of daily transportation operations of four major sections within the Transportation Department: Freight, BBPCT, Vehicle Storage and Container Managements. Provide statistical analysis reports from a data base in order to find ways to increase efficiency and lower cost. Effective communication skills (e.g. face to face with customers when required). Plans, directs and controls freight operations in line with our intent of always servicing our customer first. Create and update processes in accordance with operational goals and corresponding regulations. Attain specific operational standards in the areas of overall performance, missed pickups, on-time service, personnel overtime support, Safety and Operations Audits. Work with audit results to ensure sections are in compliance with both Safety standards and Operations standards / procedures to eliminate repetitive errors; participate in the scheduled Joint Planning Conference for Fort Carson’s deploying units in order to provide deployment support information, identify problems and / or progress with regard to achieving deployment goals; work closely with Safety Department to ensure compliance with Safety audit, company policy and external regulations; work closely with Human Resources Department to ensure compliance with company policy and external regulations.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising each section while maintaining the company standards for safety, quality, efficiency, cost, service, training and development and housekeeping.
The central point of contact for the Freight, BBPCT, Vehicle Storage and Container Management and reports directly to the (Transportation Manager).
Prepare and supervise the department’s safety procedures in accordance with Company, OSHA, and DOT guidelines
Supervise the workforce to ensure customer expectations are met in an efficient and timely manner.
Develop the workforce by setting clear expectations, training, providing feedback and coaching.
Motivate employees while maintaining a positive, results-oriented workplace by striving to achieve productivity goals.
Perform employee reviews; document corrective action as needed.
Apply and enforce company policies and procedures.
Participate in the interviewing and hiring process and provide feedback for hiring decisions.
Responsible for the maintenance and supervision of all files, records and reports as prescribed in the contractor's Performance Work Statement (PWS).
Oversees the day to day operations of warehouse, including freight, returns, shipping, receiving, parcels, transfers, Syncada, Deployments and Redeployments.Ensure all Transportation deliverables are submitted to the Transportation Manager in a timely manner.
Ensure that Transportation employees maintain contract standards for appearance, wearing of identification badges, conduct, and performance.
Ensure Vehicle Operators keep current their Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDL's), and medical certifications.
Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Work is generally conducted in a shop environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Work will require lifting up to 50 lbs; stooping; climbing; prolonged standing; prolonged sitting; and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required is certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules.
FREEDOM TO ACT: Reports to the Transportation Manager, and functions under his/her guidance and direction.
Education: High School graduate or equivalent. Knowledge of automated data systems and automated data system input required. Requires a thorough knowledge of CMOS / GFM / ETA / IBS / FACTS. Must be able to choose among widely varying methods and procedures to process complex transactions; select or devise steps necessary to complete assignments.
Experience: 3 years’ direct experience in Freight / deployment environment, with some knowledge of military operations and schedules. Must have good oral and written communication skills.
Must possess and continuously maintain a current State of Colorado Driver's License, either by date of hire or 30 days after being hire.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be a US Citizen and able to maintain
National Agency Check (NAC) to obtain a CAC. Must receive
favorable background and drug testing results.
