Colarelli Construction Estimator/Preconstruction Architect in Colorado Springs, Colorado

This position is intended for a person with an architectural background looking to work for a commercial general contractor to assist in various pre-construction and pre-development activities, including the creation of detailed proposals and detailed construction estimates from preliminary / conceptual information. The Pre-Construction Architect / Commercial Construction Estimator is a full-time exempt position. The ideal candidate is detail orientated with a demonstrated ability to work with numbers, drawings, multitask and prioritize as well as strong organization and communication skills. This person will be responsible for developing accurate and reliable estimates for multiple, simultaneous projects from conceptual design through final construction documents.

Job Overview

  • Understands project plans and specifications and can develop conceptual plan designs and renderings

  • Understands the various components that go into the construction of a building and be able to pull all those components together from preliminary information

  • Strong conceptual estimating skill

  • Performs code review studies

  • Ability to independently develop complete estimates from preliminary floor plans

  • Developing and managing estimates on multiple, simultaneous projects

  • Work closely with Management Team in the development to ensure accurate estimates and assumptions meet project requirements

  • Work directly with clients to define their program

  • Works with clients and design teams closely to further develop the project

  • Coordinate the completion of all client deliverables for estimates to insure consistency

  • Identifies appropriate trade contractors in order to develop budgets and bids

  • Proficient in all trade scope review and identifying potential concerns/issues on projects

  • Ability to independently develop accurate detailed self-perform estimates

  • Track, price and negotiate project cost changes

  • Demonstrates the ability to encourage personal and professional development in team members.

  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and professionalism

Core Requirements

  • Background in Architecture and Commercial Building Construction

  • Detail orientated with strong leadership, communication, problem solving, initiative and team building skills.

  • Knowledgeable in construction and estimating software as well as windows applications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Bachelor?s degree in one of the following: Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent

  • 5 years of experience in Architecture and/or Commercial Construction Industry

  • Demonstrable experience in roles of increasing responsibility in commercial construction estimating

  • Position requires a clean driving record and valid driver?s license

  • Position requires an acceptable background check per company standards
