To operate automatic turning equipment after machine is set up, make simple adjustments such as feeds, speeds, depth if cuts and proof out parts. Generally run simplified parts with greater tolerance. Generally runs only 1 type equipment but maybe required to run 2 of same at one time.


Review shop order packet for procedural instructions

Perform and assist setups.

Check dimensions of parts and holds tolerance per print

Use most types of inspection gages.

Operate machines to the dimension and tolerance of the engineering drawing specifications.

Operate or learn to operate one or more pieces of automatic turning equipment, CNC workcenter or manual workcenter unassisted and with high efficiency after the machine is set up.

Make corrections or learn to make corrections on feeds and speeds for maximum efficiency, with some supervision.

Change tooling inserts and drills as needed and correct offsets as needed.

Run simplified parts with greater tolerance.

Inspect all parts during batch runs and collect all job times for accurate costing.

Maintain work area and machine at all times using preventive maintenance and assisting in maintenance repairs as required.

Work with programmer at machine to correct and problems or changes for maximum efficiency.

Should be willing to move up and learn CNC Machinist II.

Maintain clean and safe work environment through neat housekeeping.

Must carry out work assignments to the highest quality level.

Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.


Must have the ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions while working from blueprints.

Must possess and show proper work ethics.

Good mathematical skills.

Ability to operate a forklift or overhead crane.

Must be aggressive and self-motivated.

Must be able to lean and advance to CNC Machinist II.

The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.


Experience in similar type of work.

Must be able to use or learn to use all machinist devices and hand tools.

Prior CNC Machine Experience
