What You’ll Do:
Perform steady state and transient heat transfer analysis to predict the range of temperatures experienced throughout the operational lifecycle of launch vehicle components, subsystems, and structures.
Guide design of thermal protection solutions through participation in multidisciplinary design teams.
Support the Major Development market segment focused on the development and upgrade of the Vulcan Centaur launch vehicle.
Performs thermal and/or fluids analysis at both the detailed component level and at the systems level.
Perform to verify designs will operate within prescribed temperature limitations, and to prescribe thermal protection systems when needed.
Fluid analyses are performed to define fluid states and conditions during system operations to verify adherence to requirements, and develops and verifies flight software parameters to control vehicle fluid systems.
Develop specialized analytical tools as required to perform these functions.
Develop procedures and plans for thermodynamic test programs when existing analytical capabilities are insufficient.
Resolve issues related to thermodynamics that arise due to operational use in the field.
What You’ll Need:
The primary analysis tool used is Thermal Desktop although occasionally Sinda may be required.
experience of launch / space vehicle thermal analysis.
*U.S. Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related field combined with 5 + years of relevant work experience; 8 years preferred.
