Revit - Design Engineer
Location: Broomfield CO 80020
Direct Hire - Perm - Full Time
Salary DOE ($90K - $120K)
Works with interdisciplinary team to design mechanical and plumbing systems that meet or exceed the needs of the customer and provides contract documents that enable the systems to be built.
Assists sales in providing concepts and ideas to potential customers and one line drawings to support presentations.
Supports the project personnel during the construction phase with problem solving and coordination skills and answering requests for information.
Participates with commissioning team for system startup, troubleshooting the start-up.
Essential Job Functions
Trane Trace 700 building load analysis Drafting/AutoCAD 17.0 expertise;
REVIT 2016 or 2017 expertise/experience;
Accurate evaluation of structural, architectural, electrical, and mechanical trade coordination
Pipe sizing capability for HW, CW, process piping, steam, domestic, waste and storm systems
Duct sizing capability for low pressure, medium pressure supply/exhaust systems, knowledge of SMACNA duct construction standards;
IBC, IMC, IPC, IECC, IFGC code knowledge/awareness;
Catalog equipment sizing capability;
Duct static pressure loss calculations;
Piping friction pressure loss calculations;
Plumbing tap and domestic water heat generation calculations;
Existing system evaluation/accurate field observation ability.
The candidate must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Effectively and collaboratively participate on Mechanical team to satisfy the customer s needs.
Work well with others; Communicate effectively with internal and external customers;
Work with list of assigned customers to develop long-term relationships;
Understand and establish positive and functional job relationships;
Sketch preliminary duct, pipe and plumbing designs for budget estimating;
Supervise the preparation of construction drawings, review and comment of construction documents by internal personnel and outside firms;
Assist associates in resolving design/installation problems;
Troubleshoot existing systems, participating on commissioning team for system start-up;
Attend customer meetings to provide pre-construction engineering services;
Design Engineer 2 Perform jobsite inspections to gather information;
Produce/oversee permit and construction documents for submittal to AHJ including ComCheck and energy code review requirements;
Draw common details for company reference;
Create and edit company written specifications;
Work with potential customers to solicit new projects;
Meet with customers to gather information and coordinate plans;
Obtain information and pricing details from vendors;
Work with government agencies to clarify code related questions;
Coordinate with other employees as required in the resolution of project related problems and issues;
Work as a team member with sales engineers to conceptualize designs;
Assist in production of information to arrive at budget system costs and final system costs.
Work with project personnel on construction logistics/scheduling regarding mechanical system interface;
Have knowledge of direct digital, electric, and self-contained temperature controls.
Pneumatic controls a plus;
Demonstrate knowledge of engineering requirements regarding time and cost estimates;
Manage the production of construction documents and specifications to predetermined budgets;
Write technical reports, correspondence and proposals that demonstrate expertise and sincerity;
Teach and mentor others in all of the above requirements
Working knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft suite of programs.
Load calculation software.
Ability to perform engineering calculations related to pipe and duct flow losses.
Experience in equipment/systems applications.
Working knowledge of architectural, electrical, structural and fire protection drawings required.
Ability to operate REVIT and energy model software preferred.
Education and Work Experience
B.S. in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering required.
Coursework in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and heat transfer required.
5-8 years’ experience in HVAC and plumbing environment required.
Capable of exerting up to 100 lbs of force.
The full range of physical activity including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling lifting, grasping and feeling, reaching standing, walking, repetitive motions.
Will be exposed to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, vibrations, dampness, equipment movement, hazards, dangerous chemicals and solvents, electrical shock, lightning, ice, snow, work at night and in the dark.
Free from fear of heights.
Able to work on ladders and scaffold in confined spaces.
Must work under pressure and at a fast pace.
Capable of quick response to emergency situations.
