Oracle Product Manager/Strategy 4-ProdDev in Boulder, Colorado

Lead a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.

As a member of the product development division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Suggest and justify product directions and specifications. Specify, design and implement moderate changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

The Principal Product Manager role within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) group performs a vital function by defining product requirements, working closely with Engineering to build product roadmaps, setting product messaging and ensuring that our cloud service offerings delight customers and differentiate from competitors.

As a Principal Product Manager you will also identify and interact with external implementation partners, ensuring that their individual practices have sufficient knowledge to accurately represent and execute on customer demand, and technology ISV partners who want to integrate with the cloud service/feature that the Principal Product Manager is responsible for bringing to OCI. In this role Product Managers perform a number of different functions:

  1. Define highly differentiated capabilities and use cases that will be used by some of the largest, most demanding Enterprises in the world.

  2. Work closely with Engineering teams in establishing the stated direction of OCI service features and ensuring the integration of new features into existing/new OCI offerings

  3. Act as the primary source of business and technical enablement for sales and evangelist efforts. Ensuring that technical collateral is generated that enables future solutions implementations.

  4. Set the messaging for Go-To-Market teams to operate against and provide detailed, focused feedback to said teams.

  5. Represent the team in Executive level discussions both internally and with customers.

  6. Ensuring that cloud service messaging is accurately delivered to the sales organization in a timely manner and that messaging is consistent with offering capabilities.

  7. Act as the first-level trusted OCI advisor to customers, partners, and Oracle sales organizations.

In order to accomplish the broad range of functions, Product Managers should have a broad skillset:

  1. Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written. This also extends to communicating to both technical and business audiences with equal skill

  2. Deep technical background in both cloud and on-premises solutions. Knowledge of various operating systems and software components that are typically found in customer environments

  3. Business acumen in the context of understanding business pressures that customers face in making technical decisions, and the impact of product decisions on OCI consumption.

  4. Ability to create a strategic vision, using the Minimum-Viable-Product as a starting point, regarding the ultimate direction of the product under the PM's management.

As an OCI Principal Product Manager you will interact with a broad range of customers, from C-Level executives to deep technical subject matter experts, across a wide variety of organization types. As OCI Principal Product Manager you must have the ability to communicate the business advantages of utilizing OCI solutions, in the context of the business problem, as well as provide an initial read on what a technical solution may look like. Lastly, you must be able to guide the creation of innovative technical solutions based on customer needs.

Qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience in Product Management or Product Development of technical solutions.

  • 5 years of experience in Operations, Solutions Architecture, and/or System Engineering

  • Background in at least one major public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI).

  • Demonstrated ability in writing as indicated by publications of blogs, strategy documents or messaging material

  • Strong executive presentation skills with experience dealing with C-level technical and business audiences.

  • Ability to interact with customers and sales teams on an ongoing basis.

  • Experience with the on-premises analog of the product being developed

  • Some development experience (2 yrs) with at least one scripting or programming language - Python, Bash, Java, PowerShell

  • Knowledge of both Linux and Microsoft Windows

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience. MBA preferred
