We are currently looking for a hands-on Inspection Technician for our thin-film coating operations. The right candidate will have significant exposure to cleaning of optical components and assemblies both prior to and following deposition of thin-film coatings.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cleans parts prior to and following deposition of coatings or during other manufacturing steps using both hand cleaning and spin cleaning
Cleans and inspects glass and crystal parts and assemblies
Packages parts for shipment to customer
Loads and unloads complex parts into coating tooling
Inspects parts and measures defect sizes against MIL specifications
Work with engineering to improve cleaning and inspection processes
Updates Shop Floor Manager as required
Follows all safety training and guidelines
Any other duties and functions as assigned based on workload and demands
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES
A 2-year technical degree, or 3+ years relevant experience is desired
Direct experience with optical components or cleaning of small parts desired
Experience with optical contacting desired
Familiarity with microscope inspection techniques desired
Experience with MIL-PRF-13830B desired
Strong written and oral communication skills
Basic understanding of computer hardware and interfaces
Strong work ethic
Team player with solid communication skills
Ability to read, follow and understand procedures
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Bend as is necessary for sitting, using computers, using the telephone, and computer mouse
Demonstrate eye-hand coordination
Operate testing and measuring equipment
Apply force to adjust and operate testing equipment, turn knobs and cranks
Manipulate fragile parts into and out of equipment
Grasp objects in order to turn, wipe, adjust instrumentation and safely use sharp instruments
Twist and turn wrists and forearms to perform inspection of optics and to operate microscopes and computer
Bend at the neck to perform inspection and testing of optics and related equipment
PHYSICAL CLASSIFICATION OF JOB
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
This position requires compliance with ITAR Regulations; this person must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident.
