Kelly Services Analyst - Scientific in Boulder, Colorado
A local company is seeking a Biochemistry Research Associate to join a dedicated team. Beyond the requirements listed below, the ideal candidate will possess the entrepreneurial attitude key to succeeding in a start-up environment.
Monday-Friday (8-430 PM) Salary is between $20.00-$23.00 per hour
Temporary Position with the possibility of becoming a permanent employee
High throughput plate-based assays and assay automation
Perform basic biochemical characterization of compound action
Protein purification for affinity calculations and detailed mechanistic studies
Record, report, and present experimental findings in company-wide meetings
Generate standard operating procedures, and prepare formal technical reports and summaries
Maintain laboratory instrumentation
Stay abreast of relevant scientific literature to identify emerging research trends and evaluate implications for internal projects
Perform experiments to investigate a specific question or problem in collaboration with supervisor and/or project team members
Conduct detailed wet laboratory experiments with appropriate technique and adequate controls satisfactory to substantiate/replicate results
Coordinate laboratory work with objectives of project team
Interpret basic experimental results and drawing conclusions to be used by project team
Report organized data, making comparisons, and identifying trends
Make suggestions to improve laboratory efficiency
Operate at a high level of competence in laboratory technology relative to the assigned project
Demonstrate basic command of scientific techniques and tools used in the respective area of science/research
Participate in project team meetings
Maintain scientific records in clear required form
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining professional networks; and participating in professional organizations
Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies; safe work practices; and company policies and procedures
Other laboratory duties as assigned
BS/MS in biochemistry and 2+ years research laboratory experience.
Experience with high throughput or medium throughput plate-based assays and assay automation
Familiarity with safe and efficient laboratory practices
General scientific computer and software application proficiency
Ability to thrive in a fast-pace, multi-disciplinary environment interacting with a diverse group of colleagues, comfortable with adjusting workloads based upon changing priorities and willing to take on new tasks, regardless of level or type of work
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
