About this Job:

The purpose of this role is to provide health, safety, environment and security (HSES) support at their home site, and lead/support HSES efforts under the direction of the Cereals Operations Head and NA Seeds Development Regional HSE Manager for the Cereals SDU locations in North America. Position reports functionally through the Cereals SDU Operations function and the role resides geographically in a location to effectively support multiple sites within the SDU. Time allocation would fluctuate between home site and sites within the SDU based on HSES business needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement standards to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and Syngenta policy and standards
  • Support effective site-based HSES management systems to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Ensure training and record keeping are completed, and reporting requirements are met
  • Deliver practical HSES subject matter expertise. Enable broad ownership of HSES through effective relationships with line management and employees.
  • Take decisive and appropriate action when standards are not met and collaborate with SDU operations and NA Seeds Development HSE manager for effective resolution
  • Assist with audit preparation, closure of corporate audit findings, and assessment of audit action plan effectiveness
  • Ensure consistent training, implementation and communication of Syngenta HSES policies and standards
  • Collaborate with Site HSES coordinators and Regional HSES to develop training plans and material to administer and communicate Syngenta HSES policies and standards
  • Ensure shared learnings and best practices are communicated effectively within the territory
  • Work with line management to establish a positive HSES culture at all levels of the SDU
  • Conduct regular on-site assessments at sites against compliance with government regulations and Syngenta HSES policies and standards
  • Regular, timely and accurate reporting of HSES issues and barriers/best practices/successes
  • Participate in the development of the strategy and direction of the NA HSE group

Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree in a related field and a minimum of five years of relevant HSES work experience with a proven track record of delivering HSES results
  • Or an Associate‚Äôs Degree with 3-4 years of relevant experience

  • Excellent communication and computer skills (verbal, in writing, presentations, etc.)
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and information to stakeholders & operators
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage a broad scope of projects across multiple locations
  • Self-motivated and able to learn rapidly
  • Follow through project until completion
  • Travel up to 35%
