General Description

Our Professional Services division is currently seeking a Solutions Architect. The Solutions Engineer will be responsible for providing pre-sales technical expertise for Flexential Professional Services to Flexential customers and prospects.

Flexential Professional Services (FPS) is a consulting division providing infrastructure and cybersecurity transformation services. We help mid- to enterprise-sized organizations mature and improve their IT operations and cyber security posture through assessment, architecture, and design/build engagements.

This role supports the sales and account management teams through direct interaction with prospects on calls and occasional in-person meetings.

The successful candidate will have a broad background in system administration, IT operations and enterprise IT infrastructure including virtualization, networking, storage, and cybersecurity.

This position will work in an advisory sales capacity soliciting and understanding customer needs, identify potential solutions, and effectively communicating how identified solutions will help solve customer challenges.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

  • Support the Flexential sales teams by actively managing technical pre-sales assistance requests for Flexential Professional Services.

  • Attend qualified sales calls and meetings (some travel will be required from time to time) to identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate services that fulfill those needs.

  • Triage inbound pre-sales requests from account teams to determine whether standard offerings or custom solutions are necessary.

  • Quote and represent standard solution offerings, describing to customers how the proposed solutions will address their needs.

  • Identify cases where custom solutions are required and engage appropriate subject matter experts for further technical pre-sales assistance.

  • Keep current on all core product offerings and industry trends & technologies

  • Provide feedback to and collaborate with FPS practice leads on the development of new standard offerings

  • Provide technical sales training to sales and marketing staff when required

  • Perform other duties as required and assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5-10 years B2B Sales and/or support in IT industry

  • Ability to travel, as required, working with all levels of the organization, sales team, customers and channel partners to support business development efforts.

  • Must be technical, team-oriented, and have a documented path of success and contribution to a growing business in the consulting or managed IT services field

  • Must have the ability to grasp complex technical issues and clearly and simply translate them into non-technical solutions that address and solve the underlying business need

  • Must be detail oriented, organized, driven, and have excellent communication skills.

  • Strong working knowledge of Windows and Linux

  • Strong working knowledge of cloud platforms and hypervisor technologies (i.e. VMware, AWS, Hyper-V, Azure, Google Compute Platform)

  • Strong working knowledge of x86 enterprise server hardware

  • Working knowledge of Firewalls, Load Balancers, Switches

  • Working knowledge of security and disaster recovery best practices

  • High-energy individual with a positive attitude, good teamwork skills and exceptional customer presentation experience.

  • Credible – customers and prospects feel the SE truly understands their needs and can understand their questions and offer plausible solutions.

  • Self-directed, self-motivated and accomplishment-oriented – possesses the drive and determination to succeed.

  • Persistent but pragmatic: willing to be flexible and adaptable to change.

  • Quick on feet – can address the challenges presented during sales conversation.

  • Easily adaptable to a fast-paced business environment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in an office environment

  • Ability to use the computer key board for extended periods of time

  • After hours networking and customer interaction required

  • Travel may be required
