Senior Professional Research Assistant/Program Manager

Nature of Work
The Colorado Program for Patient-Centered Decisions (CPPCD) in partnership with the Adult and Child Consortium for Health Outcomes Research and Delivery Science (ACCORDS) has an opening for a full-time Senior Professional Research Assistant (SrPRA) to support growing research endeavors of the CPPCD. The CPPCD takes a broad view of shared decision-making and brings together multidisciplinary expertise in development of materials, measurement of outcomes, and implementation into practice settings. This group currently consists of 4 core principal investigators that have been successful in obtaining funding from the NIH, the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), the American Heart Association (AHA) and several foundations.
The CPPCD Program Manager will be responsible for providing research support as a program manager to project investigators, assists with implementing evaluation and research protocols, utilizes both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and assists with the CPPCD programmatic needs, such as staffing, budget management, and other duties, as needed. The Sr. PRA assists in all phases of study design (e.g., literature reviews, grant writing, budget preparation), implementation (e.g., developing human subjects’ protocols and project materials, data collection and tracking, practice recruitment, budget administration and tracking, supervision of research support staff/students, as needed) and dissemination (e.g., creating presentations, writing final reports/manuscripts). The ideal candidate will have experience managing federally funded research grants, quantitative and qualitative research training, and strong interpersonal skills.

Examples of Work Performed
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Assist in all phases of study design and implementation of evaluation and research protocols.
Project planning, including developing scope of work, identifying project tasks and timelines, designing protocols, and identifying prospective problems.
Manage all phases of research studies, including project implementation, budget development and administration, maintain project files, report writing, recruitment of subjects, and preparation of project materials.
Plan and facilitate research team meetings.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders.
Prepare IRB application materials and other regulatory compliance materials, including full protocols, surveys, advertisements, CVs, protocol applications, amendments, continuing reviews.
Conduct quantitative data collection, entry and analysis.
Conduct qualitative research activities, including guide preparation, interview and focus group facilitation, participant incentives, summary and analysis.
Collaborate with project analysts for data analysis and results preparation.
Conduct grants coordination and management of submissions and awards.
Assist with grant writing and preparation of proposals (federal and private foundation applications).
Oversee student workers and/or other research assistants who assist with project activities.
Initiate and/or lead development of abstracts/presentations for aspects of project of interest, as appropriate.
Creative development and problem solving for projects and studies.
Manage and foster developing relationships among the various project partners.
Manage budgets and staffing needs for the team.
Provide mentorship and guidance to research assistants and/or students.
The Sr. PRA/Program Manager reports to the Lab Director Daniel D. Matlock, MD, MPH but will also work closely with other principal investigators in the CPPCD.
The Sr. PRA/Program Manager will help lab director mentor and supervise research assistants, post-doctoral fellows and/or students. The Sr. PRA/Program Manager will attend to daily issues with program management, problem solve issues with the research assistants and provide mentorship, research training and guidance.
Does this position have fiscal responsibility?
The Sr PRA/Program Manager will oversee and manage the grant portfolio and budget for the CPPCD. Additionally, the position will be responsible for managing funding distributions for all PRAs within the CPPCD.
Salary Offered or Salary Range
The salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established at $63,500 to $75,000.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Communications, Public Health or a related discipline
7 years’ experience in research
Project management experience, preferably in a research/evaluation capacity.
Experience managing federally funded grants.
Previous experience in research/evaluation project management, qualitative and quantitative data collection, data management and analysis.
Aptitude to learn analytic and other software as needed.
Previous employment in a university environment.
Knowledge of team science and/or building successful teams.
Past experience working on federally funded projects
Program Management training (or willingness to receive additional training in this area)
