The Charles C. Gates Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Biology has an opening for a full-time Facilities Engineer (Sr. Professional Research Assistant) at the newly established Gates Biomanufacturing Facility. The Gates Biomanufacturing Facility is an academic cGMP manufacturing facility dedicated to the development and manufacture of novel biological therapies for early phase human clinical trials. This position will be responsible for the day to day management of the Facility systems at the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility at the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility.

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus seeks a Facilities Engineer to work in the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility in Aurora. Job Responsibilities:

  • Full time position at the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility located nearby the Anschutz Medical Campus. The position may require weekend work and work outside of normal work hours to accommodate processes which cross shifts. While not typical, this irregularity of work hours should be expected.

  • Report to the Director of Finance and Administration

  • Work in a multidisciplinary, multi-accreditation, and regulatory space for protein biologics and regenerative medicine therapies.

  • Management of a quality/cGMP-based facility program for the contract manufacturing of protein biologics and regenerative medicine therapies for phase 1 and 2 clinical trials.

  • Develop, coordinate, execute, and review results from key equipment, utilities, facilities, at the new facility.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to users of the facility.

  • Analyze the performance and health of the maintenance and calibration systems through evaluation of the reports, managing issues to resolution and in conformance with quality metrics and compliance requirements.

  • Responsible for asset system for calibration and maintenance.

  • Review and manage service contracts for cGMP services.

  • Manage traceability and status requirements in accord with site QMS requirements for equipment and instruments.

  • Manage Non-Conformance issues with regards to utilities, equipment, and instruments.

  • Manage site contractor training program.

  • Participate in the risk management program regarding equipment and instruments.

  • Compile information and results into meaningful formats to ensure content is appropriately represented with regards to the facility and facility related compliance programs.

  • Manage facilities related programs to meet key performance indicators (KPI) to quality objectives.

  • Work in a professional and collaborative manner with coworkers and prospective users.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established at $52,000 to $85,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years in regulated Facilities Engineering/Management experience.

  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering discipline or equivalent. Life sciences degrees are applicable.

  • Experience in facilities engineering, project management, or other regulated manufacturing environments.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • A minimum of 10 years of Facilities Engineering/Management experience.

  • Deep knowledge of project management and administration.

  • Experience in successfully implementing a facilities compliance program.

  • Experience working with multiple client driven projects and procurement timelines.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills in both written as well as presentation of data.

  • A team-oriented, self-starter capable of operating independently in a start-up environment.
