Research Associate/Senior Research Associate – Retina Stem Cell and Regeneration

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking applicants for a full-time Research Associate position in the area of stem cells and regenerative medicine for the retina. The successful candidate will join CellSight - the Ocular Stem Cell and Regeneration Program. CellSight ’s overall mission is to restore vision in blind patients by catalyzing stem cell innovation. CellSight is currently developing a novel stem cell-based therapy for the treatment of retinal degenerative diseases and is seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for translational science to join our team in the role of research coordinator. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting edge translational science and take part in developing the next generation of regenerative therapies for retinal degenerative conditions like age-related macular degeneration.
Examples of Work Performed:
The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
Work closely with the project leader on the day-to-day tracking and follow up of milestones and timelines for the scientific aspects of the project
Coordinate milestone/timelines from all components of the project
Independently identify needs/next steps and take corresponding actions; this includes assigning identified tasks to team members in consultation with project leader
Maintain project management information and tracking systems. Including the set up and maintenance of all project documentation files, records and contracts according to the scope of work and SOPs
Interface with vendors and third parties. Coordinate and process timely acquisition of products and supplies (experimental animals, reagents, supplies, equipment). Build relationship with vendors and providers, obtain quotes and negotiate pricing, process MTAs.
Manage contracts and budgets associated with outsourced studies; financial reporting including tracking deliverables and invoicing
Coordinate with CU animal facility staff regarding everything pertaining to animal studies. Oversee all animal study protocols for assurance of compliance, scientific accuracy, and completeness
Ensure that all necessary infrastructure, equipment, reagents, animals, and personnel are ready and properly coordinated for timely execution
Assist CellSight investigators in preparation of Invention Disclosure Forms, Material Transfer Agreements, IACUC protocols, and similar documents
Assist in writing grant proposals and progress reports

Minimum Required Qualifications:
PhD degree in biomedical sciences or a minimum of 5 years of research experience in the field
A minimum of 5 years of experience in management of scientific teams engaged in complex translational projects with well-defined milestones and timelines
The ideal candidate will have the following additional credentials:
Ability to work in a highly independent manner
Attention to detail, excellent record-keeping, organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
Excellent oral and written communication skills and proven ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
This position will be under the direct supervision of the project leader.
This position will play a key role in project management. It will have the responsibility for overseeing and assisting other investigators in the timely accomplishment of milestones and timelines.
