The laboratory of Dr. David Bentley seeks to hire a Professional Research Assistant to work on cutting edge questions in RNA Biology and Gene Expression of human cells in health and disease. Our lab is in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics and part of the RNA Bioscience Initiative at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. The Professional Research Assistant will work on exciting projects related to gene expression in cancer and Down syndrome using genome wide methods of RNA-seq and ChIP-seq. The work involves experimental bench work in biochemistry, molecular biology, and genomics with the opportunity to learn high throughput data analysis techniques.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree in biological sciences, chemistry or a related field. Knowledge of the general techniques used in molecular biology and biochemistry is an advantage. The candidate must be self-motivated, organized, communicate effectively, and be a team player. Supervision Received :
This position will report directly to Dr. Bentley who is committed to providing constructive feedback and training.
Supervision Exercised :
The person in this position will be expected to pass on any training or experience they have that is relevant to their work to other people within the laboratory.
Examples of Work Performed :
RNA isolation and purification, molecular cloning, mammalian tissue culture, biochemical assays, high-throughput library preparation and laboratory management.
Salary and Benefits
