The Department of Cell and Developmental Biology currently seeks a full-time Professional Research Assistant (PRA). The primary jobs of this person will be to perform tissue culture experiments, process mouse tissue for immunohistochemistry and quantitative PCR, use laser confocal scanning microscopy to analyze and quantitate immunostained tissue and perform statistical analyses of quantified data. The position is non-tenure track, and can be terminated at any time without notice. The PRA will report directly to the Principal Investigator, Linda Barlow (PhD, Professor, Cell and Developmental Biology). However, the PRA is expected to work in cooperation with lab members on a daily basis.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Use of sterile tissue culture technique to maintain and experiment with lingual organoids derived from mouse tongue stem cells.
Perform Perfusion fixation of anesthetized adult mice.
Cryosectioning and immunostaining of fixed mouse tissue
Conduct quantitative PCR analyses of organoids and mouse tissue
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring salary for this position is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

- BA or BS Degree
- 3 years of research facility experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with biomedical literature pertaining to taste bud development and regeneration, and ability to master this literature
Familiarity with Microsoft office software package, Adobe Photoshop, and statistical analysis software.
Knowledge of sterile technique for cell and tissue culture
